Close Relatives

The Hedgehog is an amazing mammal, with stiff pointed spines covering its back. They are about 25cm (or 10 inches) long.

They eat a wide range of food sources, including insects, mice or small rodents, snakes or even eggs. If they are under attack from a predator, they will roll into a ball. This leaves their soft underside out of sight, and leaves only its spines accessible by the predator. In most cases, the predator will soon give up and seek another food source.
